A regression plan is often copied from the previous campaign. The copy inherits the links of its test cases and requirements — including links to bugs found months ago. Since v2.73.0, a report shows by default only the bugs its campaign produced.

Where the bugs come from

Settings › Thresholds & quality › Bug source offers two sources: It is a project setting: the whole team gets the same report. It is not locked; the screen shows who changed it last and when. It is read at every generation. With the default source, each bug appears once and lists the test cases whose results carry it. Only the Bug work item type is counted.
No new permission and no write: TestPulse adds one parameter to the run results call it already makes. Reading the results takes a little longer.

One list for the whole report

The same list feeds the bug list and its counters, the Quality Score and the GO / NO-GO verdict (open blocking bugs), failures without defect, the bug column of the traceability matrix, the multi-plan report and the five exports.

What changes with the default source

  • A bug linked to a test case only by Tested By, or only to the requirement, is no longer in the report.
  • If its test failed, that test becomes a failure without defect — and when the gate Block the release while failures without defect remain is on, the verdict can turn NO-GO.
  • The Bugs curve of the history trends shows a break at the first report built with the new source.
  • A bug attached to a run whose results were deleted is not counted.

Attach a forgotten bug

A bug found during execution is created from the Test Runner: it is attached to the result automatically. If it was created elsewhere (from Boards, for example), open the run in Azure DevOps and link the bug to the run result — from the run, or with a Test Result link from the bug. It is counted at the next generation.

Order and columns

The bug list is sorted by creation date, newest first, then by ID — on screen and in every export — with a Created column and a Test cases column. Column headers stay sortable on screen. The Open bugs block keeps its triage order: severity, priority, then creation date. The PowerPoint deck keeps the 15 most recent bugs.

The source is always written

  • A banner above the bug list names the source and the number of runs read, with a link to Settings.
  • Every export carries a source line under the title of its bug page.
  • Each saved report shows a Source: runs or Source: links chip in the history; comparing two reports built from different sources shows a warning.
  • When a plan has more runs than the number read, a warning says so on screen and in the exports.

What does not change

  • The Cockpit still reads the Tested By links of the test cases.
  • The Test coverage tab of a User Story is untouched.
  • Saved reports keep the bugs they had, and open, compare and export as before.
